Sister

To my one and my only

My sister and best friend

My protector at school

From the bullies of old

You, my sister, set the pace

You taught me the ropes

How to be kind and generous

Be smart and dress immaculately

How to live, laugh, love

And dance to tunes

Even when no one is listening

How to dance even when it rains

And yet again, in the beaming sun

You taught me to play "tente and ludo"

You opened the world of jokes

We laughed at "Somatho" jokes…

These jokes still make me giggle

Thank you for the way

You flourished in life

With so much Love and so much laughter

Giving from your heart of hearts

Making friends like influencers do

Your lifestyle was the influence

You never lacked in that. sphere...

Always giving, from little or much

Constantly digging, deeper still

Looking to find the good in everyone

Your legacy is full

Sowing good seeds brings a harvest

So today, I salute the fun-filled child in you

The wisdom of grace inbuilt

I salute the woman

The woman you were and became

Always leading the way

Everywhere you stepped

These salutations I hear again and again

Everywhere your name rings loud

Even now, and thereafter

As your new dawn beckoned...
